Greetings,
A couple of weeks ago I was took a few minutes out of a business visit to the KSC media center at LC-39 to walk out to the old CBS news building that stands prominently along media row. I was aware that Walter Cronkite was gravely ill at the time.
While I was looking at the large picture window from the outside, I thought
about Mr. Cronkite's classic reporting from that site during the Apollo
missions. His enthusiastic and knowledgeable reporting from the space beat is still unparalleled. There is no doubt that he inspired many students and
grownups with his words from the CBS news desk.
After Mr. Cronkite passed away, I started thinking about a proper way to
memorialize the world's premier space reporter. I finally decided that the best way to honor him would be to ask NASA to re-name and re-dedicate the KSC Media and News Center as the Walter Cronkite News and Media Center.
Please join me in asking NASA to make this fitting tribute a reality. Your
assistance is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, Jim McDade
